Dye-sublimation (or dye-sub) is a method of printing in which dyes are directly transferred onto aluminum through the process of sublimation (solid to gas to solid). We print the image on a unique transfer paper, which is then joined to an aluminum sheet and pressed at a high temperature. This results in a beautiful fade-and scratch-resistant piece, as the dyes sit below the coated surface of the metal. Dibond is a composite material made of two thin sheets of archival quality aluminum with a poly resin core. ~ Description of printing process and materials from our partner, Griffin Editions.
